The shared dorms from Utila Dive Center were good quality and good value as part of the diving package I bought. On hot days, the pool was really refreshing.

We were upgraded to a room for our entire stay without even asking, and the staff were nice and helpful. Reception can speak English if you don’t speak Spanish. They cleaned the room daily and changed the towels and bedsheets. There’s free drinking water and an amazing pool area. The only downsides were that there was no kitchen, just a restaurant, and the pool area didn’t have lights. I’d definitely recommend staying here if you’re diving with UDC dive center. Thank you!

The restaurant here was a real highlight for us: great drinks, excellent food, and much cheaper than the spots along the water. The location worked well too, with the ferry and chocolate company both reachable on foot, and cheap taxis passing regularly. We stayed with Mango on a joint reservation with UDC and had a great time. It felt a little less social than the hostels I’m used to, though I found it easier to meet people at UDC. An AC room is a good idea, both for cooling down and for drying things. There aren’t many good places to hang wet clothes, and the signs asking guests not to use the banisters only work sometimes, but I’m not sure other places would handle that better. This is a backpacker hostel, whatever it calls itself, and some complaints made me think a few travelers have been pretty pampered, lol. Nights were surprisingly quiet, even by the pool, except on weekends. Around 5:45am, the divers heading to the dock do make some noise, and on the ground floor you’ll hear footsteps through the wooden floor above. Our room was refreshed and got clean towels each day. We didn’t have problems with comfort or cleanliness. It’s not the Ritz, but nothing was dirty, just worn from use. Getting replacements shipped or ferried to the islands costs a lot. It was fantastic value, and we’d stay again.

The restaurant was probably one of the best on the island, and the food was really good for the price. That was the highlight, even though I’m pretty sure the restaurant isn’t hotel-owned. The staff were friendly, and they serviced our room daily, which was great. Noise was the main reason I’m not sure I’d come back, especially for a longer stay. We were diving with UDC, but locals often stayed by the pool late, talking and laughing loudly, with children screaming. The windows and walls block no sound at all. We could hear neighbors’ phones vibrating and every conversation outside. Weekends were worse, but weekdays were still rough. Our room’s Wi-Fi was terrible. The shower leaked, and for a few days it only gave scalding water. The private room did have a TV and hot and cold drinking water. Pillows weren’t comfortable, though the beds themselves were fine. The room quality might have been easier to put up with if it had been quieter, but all the noise made the other annoyances harder to ignore.

I stayed here five years ago and gave it five stars then, and I’m doing the same again. The place feels like an oasis, with a pool, plus a restaurant and bar right there. Staff really go above and beyond, and the diving packages are priced well. There are options from shared dorms to deluxe private cabins, all at great rates. A gem on the island and a must-stay when you visit.
