Hotel Villa Sigurata

The stone rooms at Villa Sigurata have a cool, castle-like feel, and you’re right in the heart of Old Town Dubrovnik, just steps from the Game of Thrones "Shame Walk." I got turned around trying to find my room, but Nikolina was incredibly kind and came to meet me and show me the way. Highly recommend!

The owner gave me a warm welcome and was great about pointing out sights and places to eat. As a solo traveler, I was assigned attic room 8, and at my height I did bump my head on the rafters, so keep that in mind if you’re booked there. The room was spotless, with air conditioning, a kettle, a fridge, and complimentary tea and coffee. The shower felt a bit small for me, though the water pressure was good. I’d recommend this boutique hotel.

The stone walls in my room made it feel like stepping back five or six centuries. This was truly a one of a kind stay for me, up there with my time in Cappadocia. The woman in charge was so polite and kind. It’s a real hidden gem in Old Town Dubrovnik, just a stone’s throw from Walk of Shame (Jesuit Stairs). Each night I went to sit by the old harbour and came back around 11, feeling safe, and it was great fun. If you’re planning to stay in the city centre, I highly recommend it.

The location is great, and the air conditioning worked well. We liked our stay at Villa Sigurata I, where we had a room on the main level. It was clean, though the bathroom was tight. The friendly host shared useful information and tips when we arrived, and arranged our airport transport. I’d come back and recommend the place, but I wouldn’t choose the main level room again. She also runs luggage storage, and people came in after midnight and stayed in the kitchen until 3:30am. Just something to be aware of.
