Villa Katarina 2nd Floor Apartments

We were happy to be away from the tourist crowds during our Dubrovnik trip, and staying here was the best decision. The beach and restaurants are close, and everything was easy to get to. The bus stop is right across the street if you want to explore Old Town.

The location may be convenient, but our stay was a disaster. The male host was rude and dismissive, and gave the impression that he didn't care about guests. Our kitchen stopped working before we had even used it. His communication was so poor that we had to go to his house for help. He fixed it quickly, but showed no empathy. He also tightly controlled the air conditioning. If you went over limits that hadn't been mentioned, staff would show up at the door and turn it off without warning, even while you were in the room. The pool was seasonal, which wasn't mentioned anywhere. Staff also knocked at random to drop off supplies without warning, leaving us uncomfortable and on edge. It was frustrating and stressful from start to finish, and I would strongly advise against booking here.

Lapad was a lovely place to stay. We were glad we chose it over Old Town: the beach and sunset were beautiful, and the area was calmer than Dubrovnik. There were plenty of good restaurants with lower prices than in Dubrovnik, and we loved the promenade by the beach and its stunning views. We had the small ground-floor studio, which was very spacious and had lots of amenities, so it was great value for money. The villa's location and coast view were amazing, with a supermarket nearby and direct beach access. Just be ready for the 188 flights of stairs back up, I counted them! Without a car, you can take the bus to Old Town. The stop is unfortunately a 10-minute walk away, and the ride takes 10-15 minutes depending on traffic. One improvement would be blackout curtains, since summer mornings get bright very early. Peter was a wonderful host, responsive, flexible, and helpful. He even printed some documents for us when we needed them and didn't have time to print them ourselves. We were very happy with our stay, and I hope Villa Katarina keeps giving many guests a lovely experience.

We chose this place over the overpriced hotels nearby and were glad we did. The beach is close, the view is beautiful, and the accommodation was clean with everything we needed. Our host was so friendly, showed us the local fish market, and even gave us fish and cleaned it for us. I’d recommend staying here.
