Gerlóczy Boutique Hotel

The entrance hall made a great first impression, and the rooms were tidy, well cared for, and full of little details that all seemed to fit. Sonja welcomed us at the start and was warm, friendly, and helpful. She was at reception throughout our stay, always just as friendly. A young man was there when we checked out. This cool hotel helped make our time there especially pleasant.

The staff were attentive and friendly, and Donat deserves a special mention for making the trip more memorable. We loved the room, especially the heated bathroom floor. It’s also in a handy spot for getting around on foot, with bus, tram, and metro stops nearby. There are places to eat Asian and local food close by, plus a Lidl.

The staff were great and always around to help, whether in the hotel or the restaurant. We’ll definitely be back. The restaurant is one of the nicest in the city, and we ate there several times for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinks. The food was fantastic. I’d recommend the cheese platter with local wine, and the chicken paprikash. The location worked really well for exploring. We walked to lots of sights, including Széchenyi spa, Buda Castle, and Fisherman’s Bastion. The hotel is about 500m from the opera house and 150m from fashion street. Our room was spacious, with high ceilings and classic decor. A fantastic hotel.

The staircase looks stunning, and my wife loved it. The rooms were comfortable and very thoughtfully designed. Breakfast was delicious, too. Gerloczy cafe is right on the premises and absolutely worth a visit. We loved the food so much that we went twice, especially the chicken paprikash, duck confit, and beef stew. There’s construction going on nearby, but unless you’re at the hotel until noon, you probably won’t notice it. It’s a minor thing and not the hotel’s fault. This was a 10/10 stay, one of the better hotels I’ve experienced.
