HILD1 Apartment 1

We accepted that the apartment was in a very old building and that the elevator wasn’t working. What caught us off guard was how different the actual place looked from the online pictures. My friend had booked it for five days, but had to leave after the first night because of an emergency. He messaged the owner to ask about getting the remaining money back and got no reply at all. I understand the owner may not have to refund it, but he should at least respond and act fairly.

The flat had good heating, which made the cold nights much more comfortable, and its central location was a real plus. The elevator also worked properly, and we had very good communication with the host. For the price and location, it was worth it, though the place could use some attention. It smelled musty and moldy, so we had to leave the windows open all the time. In the bathroom, I would have liked shampoo and shower gel provided, plus another small towel to stand on after a shower. A bottle of water in the fridge and a larger hairdryer would have been welcome too.

The owner was attentive when we arrived, and the apartment was comfortable. It’s very central too, with tram number 2 and the metro both about ten minutes away, so public transport is handy. I can’t understand the negative reviews, though everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Budapest is easy to explore from here, and the air conditioning kept working even though it was 34 degrees outside every day. The bathroom and living room were spotless, so I was satisfied with the stay. The kitchenette has no stove for making a small meal, though, and the armchairs in the yellow room need replacing. They’re covered in something I wouldn’t want to sit on.
