The common areas here are much nicer than at Jo & Joe Vienna, in my view. There’s less space, but they offer free plain and detox water, and most of the facilities don’t cost anything. Breakfast was up to standard, and the beds are bigger than at the Vienna branch, so on those points this should have been a better stay. The problem was the people sharing my room. One talked loudly on the phone, and another snored so heavily that none of the other three of us could sleep. We ended up moving to other rooms one after another. I know the hostel can’t control roommates’ noise, but when I asked to change rooms, the staff weren’t much help. They just said I was leaving soon and the hostel was almost full. I stayed put, slept only three hours, and left. The floor was dirty too. In five days, I never saw anyone clean it. Without those roommates, I’d have rated the stay higher. As it was, it was a disaster.

The rooftop bar was a nice extra for a drink without heading out, and the hotel is close to the Jewish quarter. My room was spacious, but there wasn’t much storage. It stayed around 24 degrees, so keep that in mind if you don’t like a warm room. Opening the window brought noticeable street noise. The bed was on the firm side but I slept well. Breakfast was traditional Hungarian fare, with cold cuts, eggs, pastries, yoghurt and cereal.

Imre was the best part of our stay. He went out of his way to store our luggage for a few hours after checkout. The hostel was amazing, with neon lights, the cleanest showers I’ve seen in a hostel, and very comfortable beds. They also arranged things so I could stay in the same room as my friend. Thanks so much. I hope to stay here again!

Adam made this stay special. He was always there with a smile and was outstanding at his job. I’ve stayed in many hotels on my travels, but I’ve never experienced service this impeccable before. If I visit Budapest again, I’ll come straight back to this hotel and have a coffee served by the best employee.

Getting around is easy, with public transport just across the street, and the area still feels quiet and peaceful. The hotel is clean, comfortable and welcoming, with cozy rooms, simple decor, and a pleasant breakfast. The staff are friendly and helpful, which made the stay relaxed. A TV in the room would be a nice addition. Jo&Joe is a great place to stay and easy to recommend.
