Touring & Sport Hostel Siofok

We'd read the reviews, though most seemed to be from years ago. We're here with a youth group, and it has been an affordable fit. We haven't felt out of place, even with several other youth groups staying at the same time. The team has been helpful and accommodating, and the place works perfectly for our needs. We've had breakfast, lunch, sometimes packed, and dinner. Staff have also been flexible about meal times. The lakeside at Lake Balaton is handy and easy to reach on foot.

The location was perfect, near places we wanted to go, and the service was great. Breakfast was good too. Lunch was an okay plain cheese or meat sandwich, though there was nothing on it. People I was with said a loaf of bread costs around £0.99. The food was cheap, I guess not bad, but it was very salty according to them. As someone who doesn't eat meat, I found the options poor. One night I got vegetables alongside plain pasta. They could have opened a can of tomatoes for the pasta, I wouldn't have minded if it was the same thing. The fried cheese was good. The rooms worked okay, but they varied a lot. One had a fridge and others didn't. A friend said one shower head was broken. There were no bug nets, the toilet smelled, and in my case four people had to share one plug. The WiFi was horrible when we were there, barely connecting because so many people were online and the broadband was limited. That's the only other issue I had.

We needed a place for four people urgently in the middle of the night and were in a real bind. They found us a clean, nice room at a reasonable price, and everyone was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good as well. P.S. Not one spider or other bug or insect in the building, which is a big plus in this part of Lake Balaton :)

The location was bad, near a noisy Luna Park, and the price felt hard to justify. There were spiders and bugs all over, including in the beds, bathroom and every corner of the walls. I've never stayed somewhere dirtier. If the rooms were cleaned properly and hygiene improved, it could be a decent hostel or hotel, especially if it cost less. As it was, it was horrific. I even thought about sleeping outside. I'm going to bed now and hope I don't have nightmares about spiders.
