Sous44

When I booked a single room through Booking, it looked quite nice at first glance. Then I found all the negative reviews on Google and got a little worried. Once I arrived, the service was great, and the lady at the counter was friendly and helpful. The room was clean, quiet, well heated, and spacious enough to enjoy even a longer stay. The location is perfect, with everything close enough to walk to. Good value for the price 👍

The location was the one thing this hotel had going for it. The room wasn’t properly cleaned, and when the toilet paper ran out, nobody replaced it. The bed was really uncomfortable: two single beds pushed together that kept sliding apart. You could hear everything from the other rooms, and breakfast was a joke, just cold, watery scrambled eggs and hardly anything else. If you only need a cheap place and don’t care about the rest, maybe it’ll suit you. Otherwise, I wouldn’t recommend it.

The location is convenient for getting around Budapest, but that was the only positive for me. At first, the receptionist said there were no other rooms available when we asked to move. The staff only offered one after we insisted and asked them to call the manager. Even then, we found hair on the bedding in the replacement room too. The staff didn’t seem to know which rooms were actually free. Cleanliness was unacceptable in both rooms. There was dust on the furniture and other people’s hair on the blankets, sheets, and pillows. I also saw staff bring what they said were fresh pillows and sheets from the laundry, but those had visible hair on them as well. Hygiene is a basic requirement at any price. The poor housekeeping and service made our stay at SOUS44 extremely disappointing.

The staff were polite, and breakfast was okay, but the rest of my stay was a letdown. We were never given fresh towels, so we had to keep using the old, grey ones from check-in. The bathroom bin was broken and rotten, too. We switched rooms twice, then ended up back in the first one because the other room was even worse. I paid expecting at least a clean room, and didn’t get that. Based on my experience, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.
