Destiny Boutique Hotel

We stayed five nights at this cute little hotel and found the staff friendly. The location was handy for restaurants and the Seminyak shops. The balcony was spacious, the bed really comfortable, and the small pool was nice. WiFi cut out sometimes, but it wasn't a big deal. It was very cheap, and I'd stay again.

The main problem with my stay at Destiny Boutique Hotel was a serious sanitation issue and the way it was handled. Around 8am, while I was still a paying guest, the toilet overflowed and flooded the bathroom and bedroom floor. The water was contaminated, so this was an obvious hygiene and health concern. I called reception straight away, but staff took about 30 minutes to respond. I was alone in the flooded room while the water kept spreading, and had to use my slide to push it toward the drain to stop it getting worse. When nobody came to properly help, I went back to ask again and waited another 30 minutes. That response to a sanitation emergency was unacceptable. Only after I said I wanted to check out did they offer another room for the remaining night. By then I no longer felt comfortable staying. The room had been made unusable by the flooding, but I wasn't given a refund. Guests should be able to expect basic hygiene, safety and timely help. This fell far short.

The room was decent, and the staff were friendly and easy to approach. It's also within walking distance of tattoo shops, massage places, spas and laundry. The bathroom sink and mirror, though, looked old and had rust and soap stains.

During a two-week stay, they moved me between four rooms. The first had a huge cockroach. In the second, the shower leaked and the fridge was mouldy. The third had a broken air conditioner that kept leaking water, and the problem went unfixed for at least three days. I slipped on the wet tiles and injured my head, spine and ankle. The staff were dismissive and uncaring. They refused to call an ambulance, and I waited over an hour for a doctor while in severe pain and distress. The doctor confirmed that the injuries were due to negligence by the hotel. The report noted a head injury, limited range of movement and severe bruising at the injury sites, with a possible concussion, broken bone and nerve damage. The manager has never contacted me. The fourth room had the same leaking air conditioner problem as the third. The website photos are entirely misleading about the actual property.
