La Isla Bonita

On our second visit, the hotel was just as charming as we remembered. The staff are genuinely kind, helpful, and available, and the service was excellent. We also loved the generous, tasty breakfast 😋 and found the rooms lovely and comfortable. What made it harder to relax was the noise from some other guests. The rooms all face the pool, where children were shouting and jumping in from about 7am. Later, I tried to work on the terrace, but there was more shouting. People should be able to enjoy themselves, of course, though a little consideration matters in a small hotel. The hotel can’t control every guest, but a reminder to keep noise reasonable could help everyone enjoy their stay.

We’ve stayed here at least four times and always had a good experience, so we were really disappointed by how our last visit was handled. We left some products in the room. We’re certain they were there: we had unpacked and eaten dinner, and only noticed they were missing after we left. The room was quite small, yet nothing was found. We can’t understand how the items could just disappear, and the response to the issue left us unhappy with the service.

The houses were well insulated against the heat and even the mosque noise at 4:00 am, which was a nice bonus. More than that, La Isla Bonita really delivered on its promise to go above and beyond. They arranged an early extra breakfast, gave us extra coffee and water, helped me with a backpack that needed stitching, and even sent over an E-reader my partner had left behind. This was one of the best hotels we had the privilege of staying in during our trip to Indonesia. Truly amazing.

La Isla Bonita feels private and peaceful, with just a handful of rooms set among tropical gardens around a lagoon-style pool. It’s in the north of Gili Air, away from the busier parts of the island, and suited couples or anyone looking for a quieter stay. The beach and sunset spots are only a short walk away, so it still feels convenient. There’s a natural, understated feel to the place, with airy rooms, natural materials, and locally inspired breakfasts by the pool. Guests mention the attentive staff and personal touches like welcome drinks and fresh towels on arrival. It brings together comfort, nature, and warm hospitality in a way that feels like island life.
