The only bright spot was being able to check in early because it was low season and our room was ready. Otherwise, this was a huge disappointment, and I wouldn’t recommend staying here. We booked largely because the online photos showed a working area. On arrival we were told it wasn’t available, which was frustrating since the hotel was almost empty: nobody else was on our floor and there were only a handful of people in the whole building. The room and facilities didn’t match the pictures, and the standards were much lower than advertised. The bathroom was in poor shape, the shower pressure was very low, and we found two cockroaches in the room.

The location is handy, with cafes and shops nearby and the beach and port close by too. Rooms are good quality for the price, and the courtyard is cozy and relaxing. It’s convenient to have the pool right by the rooms. The staff are great and even offer to clean, which I’ve rarely had elsewhere. Wi-Fi was surprisingly solid, around 50 Mbps.

We stayed in the villa area and really liked it. B52 has two sections, one with hotel rooms and another with villas. The hotel was calm and well cared for, with two nice pools, and our spacious room was lovely. The reception team were kind and very helpful. It’s close to Gili Air’s main street, with nice bars, coffee places, and restaurants, and about a 5-minute walk from the island’s nicest beaches, with lovely corals and turtles. They arranged laundry for us, and bikes are available to rent at the property. I recommend staying here. We did have some electricity trouble. The A/C failed one night, but staff fixed it quickly the next morning. The mosque is quite loud, though that’s part of the experience :)

The room was clean and fine for Indonesia, but I didn’t think it was worth the price. If you care about privacy, keep in mind the pool sits right in front of the ground-floor rooms.
