Dwangsa Hotel Solo

The mosquitoes were a problem, probably because the garden wasn’t well maintained. The pond water was green, there were only one or two fish, and they looked miserable. The pool was green as well, though I’m not sure if that was intentional, so I skipped swimming. Staff weren’t helpful: they watched us struggle with our things and luggage, and our room couldn’t be reached by elevator. I stayed one night for a short escape. The hotel has its own unique touch, but I’ve been to many resort-style and nature-themed hotels, especially ones with lots of fish ponds, and this one didn’t meet my expectations. Would I return? I don’t think so, not even to their Lorin resort.

The bed was fairly comfortable, but the TV didn’t work and the water stopped in the morning. I wouldn’t recommend the hotel at all since basic functions weren’t working. Service was very slow: I reported the TV on the night we stayed, and the receptionist said someone would come, but nobody did. The water problem also took a long time to fix. The location was ordinary.

The bathroom floor wasn’t very clean, and the water was dirty. The drainage was clogged. I reported it and was told it had been fixed, but when we checked, it had only been opened a little. The shower was aimed at the drain, leaving us showering over a puddle that seemed dirty. Water from the sink ran very slowly and didn’t flow toward the reservoir. The faucet and bathroom tissue holder were rusty, and there was no trash can in the room. When I asked for directions to the cactus garden, we were sent the wrong way and went around in circles until we reached the sharia hotel.

The shower was the most disappointing part of the room: instead of spreading properly, the water came out in one small stream. The rooms themselves were standard, just so-so, and breakfast had limited choices for a four star hotel. There weren’t enough seats for the number of guests either. Also, this hotel is separate from Lorin hotel, in both location and facilities, though many people, myself included, assume they’re the same hotel rather than just part of the same group. It’s quite far from the main road, so you have to drive a little to get there.
