Alila Seminyak, Bali

Our family brunch at Sea Salt felt special from the moment we walked in. The room has a beautiful, peaceful feel, and the setting at Alila Seminyak made it easy to relax and enjoy time together. Everyone on the team was warm and attentive, with service that felt personal as well as professional. There was plenty to choose from, and every dish we ordered was fresh, full of flavor, and carefully presented. You could see the care in the details. We left with a lovely memory of the meal and the hospitality. We’d happily come back and recommend it to anyone looking for a great meal in Bali.

The team at Alila were so helpful, and their service was a 10/10. The rooms, though, felt a little tight for what they cost. More worrying, my family and I are all back in Australia with high fevers, nausea, and stomach pain after what seems like some kind of “dirty water” bug. We were careful about what we ate and drank. Nearly all our meals were at the hotel, apart from one at Potato Head, and we stuck to bottled water. It’s scary to think about, especially after a stay at a 5-star resort. I saw lots of babies and toddlers there and can only imagine how difficult these symptoms would be for a little one. Bali is beautiful, and the hospitality is wonderful, but basic water and health issues need attention from the government or people may stop visiting. Spending the whole flight home sick after a luxury holiday shouldn’t be part of the experience.

The pools were a highlight. There are four, so finding a lounge chair was easy, and breakfast was lovely, with a good buffet plus the option to order from the menu and add extras. The staff were friendly and helpful, too. We stayed at Alila Seminyak from 27-30 May 2026 in room 344, a Deluxe King. The room had everything we needed and they kept replenishing the water. The view was OK, though getting to the main lobby meant quite a walk over a bridge. It’s a nice spot by the beach, but not especially close to the shops, so a taxi is useful. Seminyak Square is about a 25-minute walk away; there are other shops nearby, including cheap day spas. I’d use those rather than pay the very high price for the hotel massage. Check-in took a little while, and there was no desk in the room, which seemed an oversight. The room was in a distant block beside residential areas, where dogs barked at all hours. Potato Head on the other side of the hotel also made noise late into the night. The evening restaurant costs a lot, even though the views are great, so I’d try places nearby. Turn-down service could also include fruit or chocolates. The gym is well equipped, but one treadmill was broken the whole three days I was there. A lovely hotel, with great pools, breakfast, and friendly staff.

The ocean sound from our room was lovely, and the atmosphere was great. Staff were quick to respond and each person gave us friendly, personal service with a real willingness to help. They even smiled when we made the ridiculous request to cover the toilet door. I’d give them six stars if I could.
