Villa Chino

The management were helpful and accommodating, and the domestic staff were friendly, efficient and excellent. The location is handy for the shops and restaurants on Kayu Aya, and the beach and “Eat Street” are close enough to appreciate. But the villa sits on a very busy gang at the junction of two busy routes, with scooters, taxis and vans passing from around 8am until late evening. It doesn't offer much of the quiet retreat you might want in Seminyak. The villa looks stylish and is nicely appointed, with an excellent bathroom, a tasteful, comfortable bedroom and an adequate kitchen. Hanging space is very limited. The lounge isn't very comfortable for spending time inside away from the bedroom, especially when it rains, and the couch is just adequate. Though it's hard to say how much anyone would cook, since most tourists eat out. Outside is where the boutique setup falls short. When it rains, there's no dry space. In sunshine, there is little or no shade for much of the day, especially with the west-facing aspect. There are no sun loungers or umbrella, and the poolside chairs are fine for a short sit but not for lounging. There's also none of the open garden space I've had at many other villas. Even with just two people, I think hiring the two-bedroom villa would address these issues. Being able to relax by the pool in a small garden is an essential part of a Bali villa holiday. I won't book this villa again.
