White Lotus Villas Seminyak

The staff were lovely and tried to accommodate us as much as they could, but the villa was run down and maintenance was poor. It’s a shame, because the location is great. Water sprayed everywhere from the showers, one room’s air conditioner didn’t work, and the pool water was very green. The bathroom lighting was horrible, and the toilets were very dirty and worn out. Breakfast was so bad I wouldn’t even let my dog eat it, and I found a piece of hair on the plate. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all.

It was okay, but I wouldn’t return. The villa had a good location near restaurants, and the TV had decent movie channels, but WiFi was HORRIBLEEEEE. It was supposed to be 'High Speed', yet nothing would load. When I finally connected, it dropped seconds later, and I was lucky if Google loaded. The beds were uncomfortable, with squeaky, dodgy bases that made a very loud noise whenever we got in or rolled over. Staff weren’t much help either. I asked for the villa to be cleaned three days in a row and they didn’t come. Eventually they showed up at 5pm while we were there, after we went to the front desk to ask again. We stayed six nights over Xmas and paid quite a bit, too much for what we got in hindsight. They didn’t offer airport transfers, only to book a taxi. The place was very run down: every bathroom shower sprayed everywhere and was rusty, the toilets were old, and there was no shampoo, conditioner or body wash, which I’d normally expect in a "Luxury Villa". Bathroom lighting was very dark. The villa badly needs maintenance or a makeover. AC didn’t work in all rooms, and the units were old and dirty. I skipped the breakfast after reading other reviews. At $10AUD a day, you can get much better and cheaper food at a cafe down the road.

We weren’t happy with what we paid for this place. Breakfast was inedible: raw eggs, uncooked bacon and rock-hard croissants. There were rats running in and out of our villa, and a giant one ran through it, so we had to find somewhere else for our last night in Bali. The villa didn’t feel properly cleaned. The fruit bowl had rotten fruit in it all week, even though the rooms were cleaned daily. All in all, not worth the money.

The manager and staff at White lotus villas were polite, friendly and attentive when we asked for things. We had a spacious three-bedroom villa that worked well for two families, four adults and three kids, with bathrooms and toilets on both floors. Breakfast came on time, with a good choice of continental or Indonesian. The location was quiet, set about 100 metres back from the main road, but still close to supermarkets, restaurants, cafes, ATMs and laundromats, all about 100-200mt from the entrance. Taxis were easy to get there. I recommend the bluebird taxis, which mostly use meters. Other taxis negotiate fares, so you can barter. Potato head beach club, 'W' resort and Seminyak shopping Square, beach and restaurants were about $2 AUD away. The facilities felt average for the high price, and the villas looked tired and needed regular maintenance. We stayed in villa 1, where plaster patches on the stairs needed paint. Timber slats were missing from the upstairs balcony fence, making it unsafe for toddlers and young kids. The downstairs AC was too small for the space, and we only felt cool air right in front of it. The "satellite TV" reception was poor, with only 25% of channels viewable on either TV. Internet was much slower than at the two other hotels on our trip. The kitchen lacked cooking utensils and cutlery, so it wasn’t suited to families making food for small children during the day or night. The pool and its little adjoining area were nice. It only gets two hours of sun, between 10am and 12pm, so the water was chilly. I loved it, but some people might find an evening swim too cold. We paid top dollar, 6K for 10 nights in peak season, and expected the quality of a place reportedly rated 4 stars by trip advisor. At half the price, our resort in Nusa Dua was luxurious. The staff here did all they could to make the stay pleasant. The quiet location is close enough to major attractions and far enough from Seminyak nightlife. Still, we wouldn’t stay at this overpriced villa again, since other hotels offer better facilities for less.
