Volcano Terrace Bali

The view is great, but there isn’t much of a social atmosphere, and the hotel has no restaurant or bar. Breakfast has to be ordered the day before and is brought to your room. I was told this was because of the flies. I ordered dinner as room service one night. I’m not a fussy eater, but the chicken was almost all bones with hardly any meat, and it put me off eating. When I tried to hire a bike, they weren’t very helpful, so I had to find one elsewhere myself. My room didn’t look clean, and it had no basic supplies. I had to ask for toilet paper, and there was no hand soap, so I used the shampoo instead. If you just want a great view and don’t expect much else, it’s a lovely place. I wouldn’t expect more than a 2 or 3 star hotel.

The rooms and property are great, which makes this such a pity. Two years in a row, our group booked months ahead for a busy weekend with a trail run nearby, and both times they cancelled or changed our reservation at the last minute because they’d overbooked. It’s extremely frustrating. We’ll never book here again.

The staff were so kind and helpful, even staying up to help with our luggage when our late flight got us there at 11.50 pm. The food was great too, and the volcano lake views made for a memorable stay. The toilet could use ventilation because it had a damp smell, but all in all we had a great time.

The guesthouse is in a great spot, with lovely views of the lake and Mount Batur. The Superior Double Bed Room with pool access was spacious, including the bathroom. The staff were kind and informative, and I could tell they were trying their best. The main issue was the flies, which kept it from getting five stars.
