Don't stay here. My friend and I were each given bunks that hadn't been cleaned. The woman checking us in pulled off a used blanket and some rubbish right in front of me, then handed me the bed. The place was filthy and about half the facilities were out of order. One dorm had been shut so they could supposedly fix the reading lamps, but it looked like they were spraying for bedbugs. The good reviews seem to come from the free night they offer for leaving one. Don't be fooled, stay somewhere else.

I was here for one night before a flight, and it was a rough stay. The staff were friendly and helpful, the terrace was nice, and there's a lovely beach walking path nearby. But the wooden stairs by the entrance are dangerously loose, so watch your step. The bathroom and toilet weren't clean, and the shower had a weak flow that stopped while I and other guests were using separate cubicles. I couldn't sleep because of bedbugs. At first I wasn't sure, since it was my first time dealing with them, but the itching got too much. I caught one, and they stink. When I checked with a torch, the bed was covered in blood spots and bugs. I showered, cleaned my clothes and left. A man arriving to check in told me he'd seen people coming out at night scratching. When he saw one on my shirt, he left straight away. There was also a broken water dispenser and other items needing attention. Such a pity, because the place has real potential to be a great hostel if it's cleaned and maintained. I know this sounds harsh, but I hope the criticism motivates them to take better care of it.

The main advantage is the location, close to Kuta beach and the marketplace, which is really convenient. It's a good quality, low-cost hostel with superb guest service. Some facilities don't work well, and it may get crowded in high season with guests from different countries.

The staff are nice, and the hostel is dirt cheap and in a good location, but the bunks felt unsafe and cramped. The support planks broke on my bed, my husband's and my bunk mate's. That isn't reassuring when you're 20 feet up on the third bunk. There's a gap about 1 by 4 feet at the head of the bed under the outlet, and the bunks have no closed sides, so a phone or anything else can easily fall. They're packed so close you have to turn sideways to walk between them, and climbing the ladders is awkward because you're scraping against the other beds. Using the neighboring bunks as steps almost seems easier. With 12 beds in a room, expect sleep to be interrupted all night. Of the three showers I tried, one door wouldn't lock and another shower didn't work at all. The Wi-Fi password changed three times in a week.
