We booked and prepaid a room five months ahead for one night after arriving in Bali on a late flight. Our flight was delayed, and we reached reception close to 1 a.m. The desk was meant to be staffed 24/7. A man told us our room had been overbooked and offered to move us to a better room with A/C. We agreed, but then he said we’d have to pay extra for the better room. We’d already paid, and their reservation mistake wasn’t our fault. When we refused, he threatened to cancel the booking and leave us stranded at 1 a.m. Eventually they let us stay without an extra charge, but the room was poor, with no linen or toilet paper. Staff partied outside beside our room until 3 a.m. It was only one night, but their handling of the situation was stressful and ridiculous. Dodgy place and rude behavior. Please run, don’t walk, away.

It’s in a convenient spot for a budget stay, near restaurants, pubs, a mall and the beach. The staff were approachable and helpful, and although the room is old, it still works.

The place felt really sad and scary. At 4 a.m., a man in the next room was screaming as if he were dying, and there were two dogs kept in cages in the courtyard. My room was very dirty, with cockroaches and fleas in the bed. The bathroom was open to the sky, and its door wouldn’t close, so I didn’t feel secure. There was no toilet paper or soap.

My sister and I spent a week here when we first got to Bali. The staff were so helpful and friendly, especially Fahmi, who made sure we were looked after. We’ll definitely come back.

There was just one power outlet, almost up at the ceiling. The outside lights couldn’t be switched off at night, so expect no sleep. The room was extremely hot because there was no AC and the fan was broken. The bathroom smelled awful and didn’t even have a mirror.
