For what we paid, New Pondok Sara Villas in Seminyak didn’t meet expectations. The villa felt dated and poorly kept. There was mould on the shower head, an old discoloured toilet, and cleanliness wasn’t up to standard. The pool had visible algae and didn’t feel inviting. Amenities were basic too: the same soap was supplied for shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and hand wash. Breakfast was below average, with just an American option of canned beans, sausage, and eggs. Juice was limited to pineapple or watermelon, and coffee wasn’t included. When we asked about it, we were rudely told to make coffee in our room or pay 25K extra. We also had a frustrating issue with the key. We left it inside the room before going out, but housekeeping said they couldn’t find it when we got back. They charged us 50K even though we’d left it in the villa. The staff didn’t seem warm or welcoming, and we didn’t feel supported when we raised concerns. There are many better villas in Seminyak with higher standards, better service, and a more enjoyable stay. We wouldn’t recommend this place for the price.

We were so happy here that we cancelled our next stop and stayed longer. The villas are private, with their own pools, and there’s also a large pool by reception and the bar. The private pool is 1.3-1.4m deep, about adult chest height, which was perfect. The bathrooms are huge and the bedrooms a good size with good air conditioning. You can’t flush toilet paper, but you get used to it. Any issues were sorted almost straight away. There’s a little fridge for drinks, and the convenience store is only a few minutes’ walk away, on the corner of a main street with lots of shops and restaurants. We’ll come back.

A spacious one bedroom villa with its own pool, and it was clean, well maintained, and comfortable. There’s a large fridge, plenty of storage, fresh linen and towels, and the location is great. Highly recommend.

We stayed just one night, and the villa was reasonably priced in the low season. The room was clean, and Double Six Beach in Seminyak is about a 10-minute walk away. It’s a good choice if you get the low-season rate.
