The Aswana Seminyak

The room was clean, everything worked, and the staff were so kind. It’s in a handy spot for wandering around, and I got a good price for my two days. I haven’t tried the pool yet, but it looks nice. I’m enjoying the stay so much I’d like to extend it.

The best thing here is the location. Just off Jalan Plawa, it’s a two-minute walk to Bintang Supermarket and some great cheap eats. It makes a handy base if you’re mostly out at the beach or going out at night. For about IDR 350,000 to IDR 500,000 a night in Seminyak, the price is hard to beat. You get a private room with AC and access to a pool for something close to hostel prices. The staff are helpful, and they’ll arrange a scooter or share local advice without a fuss. The pool is a pleasant spot to get out of the Seminyak heat. The hotel has a good feel to it, even though parts are run down. It’s starting to look tired, and the online photos show it in better shape than it is now. There’s chipped paint, a flickering light, and bathroom fixtures that have seen better days. The rooms are cramped, so three huge suitcases would be a challenge. Hot water is unpredictable, sometimes scalding and sometimes lukewarm. It’s clean enough and feels safe, but this isn’t a luxury resort. I’d book on a budget if a bit of wear and tear doesn’t bother you. If you’re a “white glove” traveler, look elsewhere.

I can’t recommend this hotel after such a negative stay. The bed was in very poor condition, with stained sheets and small blood spots on the pillow. The bathroom hadn’t been cleaned properly either, and the mirror was smeared and dirty. Extremely dirty walls made the room feel neglected from the moment I walked in. Cleanliness and hygiene need immediate attention.

The room was fresh and had what we needed, and the place was clean and well maintained. There are plenty of restaurants, cafes, and shops nearby, thanks to the very central location. The staff were friendly.
