The other problems added to a miserable stay: none of the three bedroom doors could be locked, some furniture was broken, and the ensuite for the third bedroom couldn't be used. We rented Villa Kibbi through booking.com for Sep. 14 to Sep. 21. On the first night, heavy rain in Bali came through the first floor roof in several places. In the third bedroom, water dripped from the ceiling during the night, soaking the sheets and quilts, and we could barely move the beds out of the way. We told the owner the next morning. She said someone would repair the roof, but the same thing happened the following night. Small animals in the roof made noise all night and left droppings on the bed sheets and floor. The owner also said she would replace the mattresses, but none of this was done before checkout. She said it had never happened before and blamed the heavy rain. Later, though, we found a similar complaint on another rental platform from July that year, so it seemed the leak had been there since then and the property was still being rented on booking.com.

Our house manager looked after the place so well and kept checking that we had what we needed. The villa felt like a home away from home for us, even though it's not a five-star resort. We especially loved the private pool, the three huge bedrooms and the lovely air conditioning throughout. It's close to everything we needed, and they can share the number for Wayan, who drove us to lots of great spots during our stay.

The pool was lovely and private, though it did seem to have a bit too much chlorine. We came with two little kids and four adults, and the rooms worked well for us, each with its own ensuite. Housekeeping brought fresh towels every day. The beach is about a four-minute walk away, with plenty of nice places to eat and drink nearby. The villa also included Wayan as an airport taxi driver. We'd come back.

Good value for money, with a great spot in a fairly quiet area. Bars, shops and the beach are still close enough to reach easily. It worked really well for our larger family or a group of friends. Parts of the place look a bit old and worn and could use updating, though it was as clean as it could be given the wear and tear.
