Villa Surga Julie by Alfred in Bali

There was enough space for all 12 of us at our family reunion, and we loved the beautiful Bali and surf-style decor. The villa feels new, and the pool is stunning. The beach is a five-minute walk away, while the main street has plenty of restaurants about 10 minutes on foot. The staff were friendly and helpful. We all loved our stay and would highly recommend it.

The villa itself is stunning, in a nice neighborhood with great amenities along the street, but our stay was badly affected by noise from nearby villas. On our last night, the new tenants at Villa Passion, which is run by the same management company, partied through the night. We called out several times asking them to quiet down, but they carried on. The staff had told us at check-in that the street had quiet hours from 9pm to 7am, but that rule wasn’t enforced by the Alfred in Bali team. I went outside at 4am to shout at the neighbors after hours of hearing them through my bedroom walls. The music had stopped, but they kept talking loudly until they finally went to bed at 8:30am. We got some peace then. You can’t know what sort of neighbors you’ll have, so booking here feels like a gamble. Staff told me that morning there wasn’t much they could do about the problem. The WiFi worked perfectly in the lounge, but there was no reception in the rooms beside the pool. Booking both villas could work well for a large group since there’s an adjoining door. You could still have noisy neighbors beside Makena, but at least they’d only be on one side. I might book again if management had a night guard to deal with noise, but as things stand, I sadly wouldn’t. The villa also needs a deep clean.

The rooms are big and the layout works really well for a large family or group. Our daughter loved the pool, which is even bigger in person and can fit 12 people without a problem. The place was neat and felt brand new. Staff were amazing, helping us arrange a barbecue at home and suggesting good nearby restaurants. Seminyak beach is a three-minute walk away, and it’s a pleasant 7-8 minute stroll through the neighborhood to the main restaurant streets. Highly recommended.

The place looked brand new and I liked it, but I wasn’t happy with the service. We were there for a company outing on September 19-22. On the third day, I left my purse in the room when we went out and asked the cleaners to fix things up. We had withdrawn 2.5M, and that day I spent 1,923,000 on souvenirs. I should have had 500,000 Indonesian rupiah left, but all of that remaining 500k was gone. Also, take a Grab car if you can instead of commuting by taxi. Ask the price before getting in, since they don’t use meters and charge far too much. I won’t be coming back.
