Very disappointed with the Wyndham brand. The manager, some guy, was good, though. That was about it. The hotel is old, and although I know this is an old tourist area that has changed over the years, the beach right out front is just plain crap, with lots of rubbish. For what I paid, the room wasn't worth it. The air conditioner leaked badly, the TV remote had no batteries, and the toilet tissue hadn't been refilled. The shampoo and body wash were switched around, and they smelled so strongly of perfume that using them for a few days could probably ruin my hair. There was a huge gap by the balcony window, letting in rain and blowing the curtain all the way up, which made the room hot. The water was salty with black particles coming out of it. Hot water was there only when you got lucky, and the pillowcase was yellow.
The staff were the one real bright spot during my 10-night stay in May 2026. Everyone I met was welcoming, polite, friendly, hospitable, and easy to approach. The service was first class. Everything else was a letdown, especially for the rate, which was very poor value compared with much better hotels nearby. Though it’s advertised as 4 star, I think it would struggle to reach 3. I was first put in a room at the front. Motorbikes racing along the road kept me awake that first night, since the balcony doors and window weren’t sealed well enough to block the noise. Staff offered me a room in a different building at the back, and I accepted. There was no road noise there, but guests using the courtyard pool made noise late in the evening. Staff said the pool closed at 8.30pm, though there was no sign telling guests that. Some ignored the closing time. One night I woke at 1am and phoned the lobby three times, but no one responded to my concern. Only after I went down and complained in person did staff tell the guests to leave the pool and return to their room. The same problem came up on three other nights. The complex has three buildings, and their design, layout, and general condition leave a lot to be desired. They don’t seem to have been built to a high standard, and both rooms I stayed in were old, tired, and in poor repair. My hallway was a dingy corridor, although another building has a bright, open-air hallway with lots of greenery. Paint was cracked and peeling in one corner of my room and in the bathroom. The hotel is well past its best-before date. The internet was unreliable. It went down for at least eight hours one day, and every day or two it would keep dropping and reconnecting for an hour or two. The air conditioner also made intermittent noise in my room. I asked them to fix it, but the problem continued. The bath towels were badly worn and need replacing. I used the laundry twice, and had problems both times. On my first visit, I requested the “on hangar” option, but they returned everything folded, including four shirts. I sent them back and asked for the shirts to be pressed. They came back creased, so I had to send them in again before they were properly pressed. The second time, I chose same-day service with pickup before 9am, but the laundry wasn’t ready until the next day. Breakfast was a letdown for a supposed 4-star hotel. The bread was cheap and tasteless, and the hash browns, when there were any, were always cold and soggy. The drop-off space at the front entrance is too small and has no shade, although the one at the back is okay. Vehicles often park in the front drop-off area, forcing pedestrians to walk in the road and risk being hit by passing cars or motorbikes.
The staff are lovely, but their hotel is falling apart around them. In places, the ceiling is coming down, and the pool decking feels like it might give way as you walk across it. The place needs demolition and renovation. We had two rooms, both outdated, mouldy, and broken. The air conditioning in each was incredibly loud and made it hard to sleep. Booking.com lists three pools, but only two are working. We think the other one may once have belonged to an upstairs wellness centre that has since closed. I’ve seen reviews mentioning free 15-minute massages for stays over two nights, but that clearly isn’t an option. We also ate at the hotel cafe. It was bad. The staff didn’t understand what we meant by entrees, and when the food finally arrived, it was either burnt or flavourless. The buffet breakfast was possibly one of the stalest meals I’ve ever had. I tried most of the food, though the omelettes were okay.
The front desk, restaurant servers, room attendants, and security were all friendly, and the service was amazing. I have nothing to complain about there. The hotel itself is very old and badly maintained, though, and I really wouldn’t recommend the rooms. The buffet was boring and needs more choices.
The spacious, comfortable dorms and the healthy range of amenities make it easy to rest and recharge here. I liked how the design brings tropical plants and people together around the pool. The menus also include authentic dishes and drinks. It feels like a place that cares about quality living, peaceful rest, and harmony with tropical nature.
