The location is great, and with a few small changes this could be a fantastic homestay. The rooms are very good and have everything you need, but a few things fell short. They didn’t provide drinking water, breakfast was pretty poor, and nobody cleaned or checked on the room during our stay. We quickly ran out of toilet paper and tea bags. None of that was a disaster, but compared with other Indonesian homestays, this one was lacking.

The staff were attentive and helpful, and the rooms were nice. It’s also close to the port. We stayed three nights, and the one issue was the shower water, which was salty. When my wife asked, a staff member said it came from the mountains, but it seemed like seawater coming straight through the shower. Keep that in mind.

The staff were polite, and Ady was especially friendly, professional, and quick to sort out any problem. I stayed for two nights. The hotel is spacious and clean, very near the beach and harbor, with restaurants, cafes, and markets close by.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay at La Nusa Penida Homestay. The outdoor area is thoughtfully arranged, and the rooms are simple but cute, with little authentic details. The location is the main draw: it’s just a block behind the main foot passenger harbor where most boats from Bali arrive. I’m looking forward to coming back.
