The Klumpu Villa

The staff were lovely, and breakfast was pleasant. There’s also a restaurant in town just a minute away on foot, plus a small shop for anything you need. The rooms are small, simple and clean, and the setting is beautiful and very quiet, quite remote from the bustle. Just keep expectations basic, since there’s nothing elaborate here. We did have lizard droppings all over the bed, and their loud noises woke us up. A mesh curtain or canopy over the bed could help keep bugs and lizards away. The pool also needed a bit of cleaning, as the water looked slightly murky.

The stay itself was peaceful and comfortable. Our driver brought us as part of a travel package. Breakfast came with the room, but it was cold and quite bad, among the worst food we had in Bali. Nearby warungs are an easy walk for lunch or dinner, and they seemed decent, cheap, and comfortably clean. The place seems to be near the center of the island. We probably wouldn’t have chosen it ourselves since it’s not close to tourist attractions, but it worked out fine because our next day’s trip was easier from there. Three stars mainly because breakfast was so bad.

The property is in a badly run-down state, and the photos on Google don’t show what you’ll actually get. Even the cloudy pool is off-putting at first sight. Breakfast choices are limited, and the receptionist also cooks it. Getting around felt hazardous: the wooden stairs wobble and creak, and the doors are difficult to open and close smoothly. The water taps had no water, there were no bathroom stands for toiletries, and one bedside light flickered while the other didn’t work. I wouldn’t recommend staying here. If you spot a cheap deal, it still isn’t worth the money.

A peaceful, serene atmosphere, with a forest view from the infinity pool. The room was nice and the service was great.
