The Lokal Penida

I left my swimsuit in the room and contacted the hotel the next day. They told me it had been damaged, supposedly bitten by a dog. All the straps were torn off, though, which a dog couldn’t have done, and there are no dogs on the hotel grounds. There was no hot water either, just ice-cold water from the tap. For two days in a row the staff said there was none. After I asked for a refund for the remaining days, the hot water suddenly came back. During my 4 days there, the room was never cleaned, and neither the towels nor the bedding were changed.

It’s a nice, quiet spot, though a bit isolated and really tricky to locate. Don’t rely on Google Maps or you may get lost. Take a taxi, watch the directions as you go, and once you’re near the main street it’s easy to reach.

A homey hotel.

Do not book this place. We arrived in Nusa Penida on January 26th, having booked through Hotels.com, and spent a long time trying to find it. The address shown on Hotels.com and Google Maps was wrong. We ended up in a completely different, frightening-looking place, with all the lights off, no sign, and nobody answering when we tried to contact the hotel. We were exhausted, so we stayed somewhere else and had to pay extra. The business says guests need confirmation 48 hours in advance, and that they will provide a room after confirmation. We never received confirmation, but they kept our money and refused to refund it. Then they claimed we hadn't shown up. I’m extremely disappointed. I don’t need a refund now, but I’ll never stay there, and I hope others find somewhere better and avoid this experience. I’ll attach evidence and more details.
