Aryaduta Palembang

The hotel feels worn out, and the rooms badly need renovation. Breakfast was okay, though I got the tiniest omelette ever made. Service was okay too, but when I asked to have my room cleaned during a late checkout, the front desk woman said no because I was only checking out late, not extending my stay. I’ve been able to do that at Ibis, Mercure, Hyatt, and Marriott, so why not here? Are the staff broken too? They wanted 500k for late checkout. When I arrived, the escalator to the lobby was off, one lift was broken, the lower lobby was inaccessible, and the working lift pressed buttons by itself. With one lift serving 18 floors, you can imagine the wait. I don’t recommend this hotel. Stay only if you’re desperate.

During our workshop at Aryaduta Hotel last year, the conference room was quite large and it was easy to get around. Palembang Square Mall is nearby. Our room was cozy, had a safety box, and was cleaned every day. We had coffee and tea in the room, free Wi-Fi, and good service. Breakfast had a wide choice, whether you wanted Indonesian, Western, or Asian food. Nice.

Breakfast is just so-so, and the taste has slipped a little compared with a few years ago. The room looks dated and could use an upgrade, but it was clean and everything worked fine. The hotel sits in a prime part of Palembang, with two malls within 500 metres. Old but gold, and still one of the city’s best options for a business trip or a visit to the heart of Palembang.

This well-known starred hotel is an older place in central Palembang, with reasonable room rates. The restaurant serves a nice range of breakfast dishes, and the LRT station, banks, government offices, and a shopping mall are all within walking distance.
