Sinar 1 Hotel

The beds were comfortable and the place was very clean. We stayed one night, and it's close to the airport.

The room was roomy and looked nice, but that didn't make up for the problems. There were lots of little ants all over the room and bed, and the air conditioning barely cooled it. We paid more than our backpacker budget hoping for a comfortable, convenient stop, so that was disappointing. We chose it for its proximity to the airport, though the taxi ride still cost a lot, and the listed amenities made it look like good value: AC, hot water, modern furnishings, and breakfast included. We wouldn't stay again or recommend it. After a long journey, we were disturbed three times while trying to rest. Housekeeping knocked loudly around 7am, even though we'd only checked in the night before and didn't need service so early. They came by again around 10am, then reception called at about 11am to ask whether we'd check out at noon. We knew the checkout time and just wanted to relax until then. Breakfast was included, but it was very basic and had no vegetarian options at all, so one of us couldn't eat anything.

I booked because the hotel is near terminal 2 at Juanda Airport. The rooms are spread across two floors, and the place felt nearly empty, with only a few rooms apparently occupied. When I turned on the lights, I saw several big cockroaches around the room, including a couple on the bed and others on the walls and furniture. It didn't seem well maintained. I left right away and found another hotel.

Breakfast was supposed to run from about 05:30 to 9:30. We came down at 07:00, but only around 30% of the food seemed to be left from the original 70%. They acted as if a dish was simply gone once it ran out, so I imagine there might only be water by 08.00. The hotel is near the Airport, but the room felt old and there was some dirt and a small branch-like bit of something in the bathroom. The air conditioner was old and took a long time to work. And for a 3 star hotel, there wasn't even a hair dryer to borrow.
