Bali Mountain Retreat

The insects and the nighttime cacophony of sounds are part of being this close to nature, so if those things make you squeamish, this may not be for you. But if you want a real, healing nature experience without giving up too much comfort, you'll really enjoy BMR. It's a peaceful, serene place near the jungle, with the calming energy you might expect from a retreat that has hosted meditation and yoga groups. Bali Mountain Retreat exceeded our expectations for hospitality, food, and location. Putu, Lucy, Buliah, and the team went out of their way to make us comfortable. They even picked a durian for us, and Putu helped us try some local kuik. Since we're vegetarian and avoid alliums, the kitchen customized every meal. We also had an enjoyable three-hour jungle walk led by Putu and the resident dog, Red.

For an authentic Bali experience, this is a great place to go. It's peaceful and close to nature, near the mount batukaru nature reserve, with beautiful food and lovely staff. I'd highly recommend it and would love to come back.

I stayed at Bali Mountain Retreat in August for a Yoga Teacher Training, and feel lucky to have had the chance to spend time with such beautiful people in a magical place. The retreat is in the heart of the Bakutaru rainforest, and the experience was beyond exemplary. The chefs make everything with care, and the food grown on the property was absolutely divine. The staff were always smiling, and their pure positivity was contagious. If Indonesia weren't a 19-hour flight away for me, I'd be here every summer. I highly recommend it for solo travelers, couples, and groups. It will far exceed your expectations.

We've visited Bali Mountain retreat four times now, and it's one of our favorite places in Bali. The gardens are serene and beautiful, the accommodation is excellent, and it offers outstanding value for money. We love the friendly staff, excellent massages, and great restaurant. It's also a great base for hiking with local guides. We've attended meditation and yoga retreats here too.
