Tri Dewi Residence

Rainwater leaked through the ceiling onto our bed, which made us feel unsafe. The ceiling seemed to be absorbing water and sounded hollow above us, so we kept hoping it wouldn’t come crashing down during the night. It took a while to reach a staff member about the leak. He handed me a bucket and a plastic bag as if I’d asked for a beer. I asked to move rooms, but was told none were available, even though the room next door was clearly empty. They didn’t seem to care and made no real effort to find a solution. The next morning, just after we checked out, a staff member ran after us because he’d forgotten to check whether we’d used anything from the paid minibar. We hadn’t. After what we’d just experienced, that question felt outrageous. It wouldn’t have made up for the leak, but some form of compensation would at least have helped. The breakfast was very basic and not tasty. The night before the leak, we found a worm about 30cm long on the shower floor, possibly crawled out of the drain, and there was a lot of black mold on the bathroom walls. Some positive comments in other reviews, mostly about how the hotel looks, may be true, but our experience left a sour taste.

The quiet, green surroundings are beautiful and so relaxing. The rooms were very cozy and clean, and the bed was super comfortable. The bedding smelled really fresh, which I rarely find in my experience. The staff were kind and friendly too. This has been one of my favorite places in all of Bali so far, and I’ve traveled around the island many times. I can’t wait to return soon.

We had a wonderful time celebrating my wife's 29th birthday with family in this beautiful villa. My wife, her two sisters, and I stayed for two nights. The property is conveniently close to the center, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. Special thanks to Mr. Augus for his great hospitality and help decorating the pool with flowers. The floating breakfast was only average, which was a little disappointing given our expectations, though there’s always room to improve. I’d definitely recommend the place to anyone visiting Ubud, Bali for a vacation.

For anyone wanting quiet without giving up comfortable amenities, Tri Dewi is ideal. There’s a relaxed restaurant across the street, though otherwise you’re best off unwinding on the property. I woke before 6, finished a novel, swam a couple of laps, then had breakfast with a view. It sounds simple, but as a late sleeper and mild workaholic, that was one of the top 10 early mornings I can remember. Ubud used to offer quiet away from the crowds. Now it’s Tegallalang.
