Narita Hotel Tulungagung

The place has interesting furniture and ornaments, and the staff were friendly. Our first room's AC didn't work, but they moved us, and they also fixed a toilet in the next room that kept flushing. Ordering from room service was a hassle since nobody answered the phone, so we had to go down to the restaurant ourselves to place the order and have it delivered. The restaurant often looked closed, with staff sitting around. Still, it was a nice place overall.

The room was quite large for a hotel in a small city, and I especially liked having a bathtub, which you don't often find in newer hotels. The staff were helpful and nice, and breakfast was good, though I expected a wider choice. Parking is limited. Still, it was a pleasant stay at an affordable hotel.

We had a pleasant night, and the room was pretty good. The CS and waiters were friendly too. Breakfast around 8am was the weak point: most of the food was cold, empty plates and drinks weren't refilled, and we had to ask a waiter to order scrambled eggs.

I came to Narita for a three-day academic writing workshop hosted by the local university. I hadn't expected a fancy hotel in such a small town, but the architecture and vintage Javanese woodwork completely surprised me. There are carved wooden sculptures, panels, and furniture throughout, and exploring the different corners felt like visiting an accidental art gallery. The place feels homey, and the people looking after guests are wonderful. Even the security guards are helpful and cheerful, and everyone took good care of us around the clock. I'd love to return for my year-end vacation.
