Alamdini Resort Ubud

The staff, location, pool, and room service were all excellent, and they were flexible about guest requests. One thing, though: please let the birds out of their cages. They shouldn’t be kept there for people’s amusement. Let them live their lives 😀

The location is great and the staff were nice enough, but avoid the deals. I paid nearly $1000 for a week, which is expensive for Bali. I ended up cancelling because the room they gave me seemed to be one reserved for third-party bookings. I arrived early and couldn’t check in because they said it was still being prepared. When I finally got in, it was obvious the room hadn’t been used for ages: it was dusty, mouldy, and reeked of mould. The smell was overwhelming and made me sick, so I immediately asked to move. They said they could give me a different room the next day, but wanted me to spend that night there, even though it was wet season and the place was nearly empty. I refused. They offered to treat me as a no-show and charge me for one night, and I said absolutely not. They eventually let me cancel, but said all the rooms in Ubud are like this during wet season. I was really disappointed to trek all the way to Ubud for an expensive, mouldy room. I’m glad they let me cancel free, but that was the least they could do.

The room was roomy and had a bathtub, and our large balcony looked out onto beautiful nature. Breakfast was tasty, the staff were kind, and the location was great, about 10 minutes from the centre. Everything was lovely.

The staff were all very helpful, and I loved how easy it was to get around from this perfect, walkable location. My favourite thing was the bathtub. Breakfast was very basic, so you could skip it. There weren’t many plug points, and all the master switches were by the main door. The pool was cute, but the water was too cold for me to try.
