Anhera Suite Ubud

We stayed in a suite facing the pool, with the infinity pool at the bottom and a beautiful, tranquil atmosphere around it. It was well worth the price in Ubud. The staff were fantastic and quick to help whenever we asked. They also prepared a lovely bath display and birthday display for my other half, and she was very pleased. But the best member of staff was definitely Bosco. He’d show us to our rooms and come by for some much-needed chill time. Pictures attached. He’s very well trained and respects boundaries, like not getting on the furniture if you don’t want him to. Miss you, Bosco.

We stayed here for two weeks two years ago. Even then, the hotel wasn’t in great shape, though I thought that might be because COVID had just ended and it needed time for repairs after a hard period. The price was also half of what it is now. Since then, the rooms have only got worse. One of our two rooms was in a state I can’t understand anyone with a conscience accepting for paying guests. The photos show mold on the walls, ceiling, and closet hangers, plus holes in the floor and sofa. Even without the holes, the sofa is impossible to sit on and has needed repairs for a long time. Water constantly flooded the terrace lawn, and on our last day I found it seeping through the floor into the room. My things and suitcase got wet. Water squished underfoot when I stepped on the parquet. After I made several requests and reminders, the hotel manager finally came by at the end of the second day. All he said was, “Sorry, we are very busy this season.” He couldn’t explain how that related to the hotel’s condition, or whether he’d accept apologies instead of my money. I think the hotel management should be fired for incompetence. It’s sad to see a beautiful building, clearly once built with love and care, so poorly managed. Don’t encourage this irresponsible behavior with your money!

The staff were super helpful and nice, the pools were clean and well kept, and we even tried the massage service, which exceeded our expectations. It’s a beautiful place. The room and furniture were old but worked fine, and the slightly moldy smell was bearable. The one downside was construction next door. We kept waking up to drilling.

The restaurant was a nice stop. Service was good, the setting relaxing, and the breeze was magnificent in the heat. The building is old but very well maintained for its appearance. I’d call the food wholesome Indonesian fare, and the portions were small but fairly priced. My wife had chicken sate, and I had mie goreng with chicken. They also serve Gelato, which is rich and flavorful, though the serving size may leave you wanting more. We hope to visit again and review it again. Just be prepared for the extra 15% service tax, since it’s a hotel.
