Arumasta Ubud

I had a lovely time relaxing on the balcony and looking out over the pool. The hosts, Agung family, were exceptionally kind and made me feel welcome. The guesthouse is spotlessly clean, with stylish but practical design and all the toiletries you need. It combines modern comfort with warm hospitality, and I’d highly recommend staying here.

The kindest part of our stay was the staff. Dewa, Sinthia, Fiti, and a young man worked tirelessly to make everything go smoothly. We also loved meeting and chatting with the owners, Ibu & Bapak Agung, their family, and grandchildren. It felt like the most personal place we stayed in Ubud, and our favourite. We were there for two nights, and the room was spotless, tastefully decorated, and stocked with everything we could think of, from slippers and adaptors to a mosquito gadget. The showers were good too.

One unusual part of the setup is that you pass by the owners’ private residence to reach the hotel area. Each time we came home after a day out, the owner and family greeted us, which felt very welcoming. They even helped carry our luggage outside after checkout. I stayed for two nights with a friend. The room was big enough for both of us, and the service was really good. We also got a delicious welcome drink while waiting to check in.

I’d recommend this place to friends and would always want to stay here when I visit Ubud. It’s clean, run by a good owner, and there’s a cute dog. The location is close to downtown, which makes getting around easy. The downsides are that a nearby party can sometimes make noise at night, and sometimes smoke from another guest’s room drifts into yours.
