Ayye Bungalows

The owners were so kind and hospitable, and made me feel welcome right away. My room was clean, roomy, and comfortable, and the location worked perfectly. I'd happily recommend this hotel!

The room was large, comfortable, and really good value. Our host was lovely, checked in to see how we were doing, and helped with all our questions. His food suggestions were great, and the breakfast service was amazing :)

The host was lovely, and I liked the location in central Ubud. It felt well placed but away from street noise. I was recovering from the flu and needed somewhere for several days around Nyepi. I looked at the room beforehand, but the AC had probably been running and my nose was blocked, so I didn't pick up on the mould then. Once the AC was off, the smell was more noticeable, though mould was throughout the room, not just in the bathroom as I've seen elsewhere. I'm sensitive to mould, and I think the exposure made me very sick, especially as my health was already poor. It took many weeks to recover, which has never happened to me before, and I'm pretty sure the mould was why. That issue is the reason I can't rate the stay higher. Reviews of Bali places can be so positive, perhaps because hosts are often kind and lovely, making it hard to be fully candid about problems. I wanted to mention this for others like me who may be more likely to have health issues from mould.

Ayye has a great spot in Ubud, the AC works, and the staff are extremely friendly. Breakfast was genuinely good, too. I might come back, since the price, location, welcoming team, and delicious breakfast make it hard to fault overall. There are some maintenance issues, though. My doors didn't close properly, and the wooden beam used as an interior lock was partly broken. Light and cigarette smoke from the room next door then came into mine. The shower controls were confusing, and the WiFi was slow, had a very poor signal, and took several tries to connect.
