Bali Lane Villa

The afternoons weren’t always peaceful, since a lumberyard and construction work nearby sometimes made noise. Still, mornings and evenings were calm, and we left feeling mostly refreshed. Long Lane Homestay is a spacious, beautifully designed villa with lovely views over the rice paddies. The pool was a welcome break from the heat, and Mr. Gusti was very helpful. Breakfast, prepared by local women, was a delicious taste of Balinese hospitality.

The house is down a long, narrow driveway, but if you keep in touch with Gusti before arriving, he can drive you and your luggage up in his car. Nearby warungs are a short walk away, and Gusti is happy to shop for you; Gojek is another option if you specify Long Lane “Homestay”. It’s an Airbnb homestay with hotel comforts, including a comfy bed, daily room service, and breakfast. The manicured gardens and pool were so lovely we didn’t want to leave. Gusti, Ayu, and the whole team made us feel welcome from the start. They were friendly, kind, and accommodating. They remembered our breakfast requests, and the dinners we ordered for an extra cost were fresh, tasty, and worth every cent. The service, comfort, and warmth were beyond what we expected, and the prices were great. We wanted to take the team home with us. It’s an experience we won’t forget. We’ll definitely be back.

At night, the open living room lets flying insects in, and we also saw plenty of lizards and a couple of geckos. We dimmed the lights to keep insects away. If those things don’t bother you, it’s a lovely place, and we had a great stay. We had the whole unit in a central location. The entrance runs through a very narrow lane, though an Innova can get through. By day, the place felt dreamy, with a beautiful pool overlooking the living room. Puttu graciously served us a lovely breakfast, and our host Gusti was warm and polite.

We stayed four days, and Mr. Gutsi was always ready to help whenever we needed something. The host and staff were very supportive. The homestay is nice, though a little inland, and there were some insects, as you find throughout Bali.
