The evening jam sessions were such a fun extra, and I’d happily stay here again. What stood out most was how genuinely welcoming the staff were. They kept smiling and seemed to care about whether you’d had a good day or enjoyed your trip, instead of only connecting with people who’d been staying a long time. It felt really comfortable.

The rooms and facilities were really well cared for, and breakfast was included and delicious. We also booked a tour through the hostel, and our guide Butu was fantastic. He shared lots of ideas for things to see and local places to visit. The staff were superb, and staying here felt like a great way to get closer to Balinese culture and meet local people. We had an incredible stay at the Backpackers Home in Ubud, 11/10.

The common living room is the one place where the Wi-Fi works well, but that didn’t bother me. There’s a great vibe here, with guitars and singing every night, good air-conditioned rooms, friendly staff and a nice breakfast. I booked four days and ended up staying a week. A real pleasure for backpackers.

I had a good stay apart from the bathroom. It was unpleasant, smelled of paint and mold, and the shower pressure was very low. The bed was clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful with suggestions for things to do. You can also rent a scooter for $6.00AUD a day.

For three and a half weeks, this hostel felt more like home than anywhere I’ve stayed. The owners and staff welcomed my friend and me into their family and homes, took us to ceremonies, and even lent us money when we were short. I love the place, and if you’re ever in bali, you should definitely choose it. Love to Joker and everyone who works and stays there!
