Ode Hostel

The owner helped with ideas for my plans to explore, and I highly recommend staying here. The dorm was very nice for the day I stayed, and there are lots of outdoor seating areas where you can meet other travelers. It's right in the heart of ubud. On the same street you'll find cafes, pubs, clubs, massage centers, a supermarket, bike rentals, and other shops. Monkey forest is within walking distance.

Fast wifi and a decent location were the only positives for us. The rooms and 'reception' smelled bad, the rooms weren't very clean, and the beds had bed bugs. The toilets were absolutely vile. I ended up going to a nearby restaurant just to use the toilet. The owners weren't helpful at all. When we asked for the promised free breakfast, they answered abruptly and shut the door in our faces. We left a day earlier than planned because we couldn't take it anymore. This was probably the worst hostel of our travels. I'd avoid it even on a budget.

A friend and I spent two nights in the dorm. It's super cheap for a hostel and the location couldn't be much better. Breakfast was included, just tea or coffee and a crepe. Still, I wouldn't come back. The facilities were disgusting. I didn't even want to breathe while sitting on the toilet or taking a shower.

The owners are a really lovely, helpful family, and the location in Ubud is great. We got a very large private room with an ensuite, and breakfast was included in the price and really good. They also found us the cheapest price for the fast boat to Gili Air. I'd definitely stay here again.
