Private Villa Wayan

The garden and pool looked lovely, but the living areas badly need repairs and updating. We booked Villa Wayan1 for two weeks and left after the first night because it was so worn and poorly maintained. The dish towels and floor mats were dirty and full of holes, like someone had washed a car with them. The stove and kettle looked like trashed camping gear, and the fridge door didn’t shut properly, so water leaked onto the floor. There was black mould on the water tank’s spill tray and spout. The bedding, bed netting and curtains smelled old and were stained. One bedroom had a broken, torn lampshade, and another had loose, broken floor tiles held down with black masking tape. Both bathrooms are outside, so neighbours can hear everything. I know this sounds harsh, but the property doesn’t look like the photos.

There’s plenty of room in this private villa, with two rooms and its own swimming pool. The only drawback for me was that the bathrooms are outside.

You can rent this place on Airbnb, and it’s in a prime area of Ubud with plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby. The owner and staff were very friendly, and they cleaned everything on time. Just keep in mind you’ll need to walk or use a two wheeler to get there.

We stayed for two weeks and really enjoyed it. The villa was peaceful, clean and well kept, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Restaurants, bike rentals, convenience stores and coffee shops are easy to reach, and it’s close to Ubud center and artist villas. Cars have to use a small, narrow alley to get there, but bikes can get through easily.
