Dekwah Homestay

The garden was a real highlight, and the surroundings were calm. The owner is a sweet person, and the room was super clean, with a cute dog around. The room has lots of glass doors with curtains, and both a fan and AC. Breakfast was good on both mornings. Want extra? It costs less than $1. I visited Sept 2-4. Dekwah homestay is near the UBUD walking street, with shops nearby. The room is neat and has the look of vintage indonesian houses. There's no laundry service, and outside options cost more. Bring an international charging adaptor, since they aren't available all over indonesia. Overall, good value.

The hostess was able to let me in at 1:00am on my first night, after I contacted her by email and phone from the airport. That made things so much easier. Breakfast was included, too. The lady who runs Dekwah Homestay is very sweet. The shower had steady hot water, the room was very clean, and the beds were comfortable. Of all the Ubud homestays I've tried, this was the cleanest and had the most comfortable bed. It was a breath of fresh air compared with some other places in Bali. A really lovely experience!

The breakfast was homemade and delicious, though not very filling, and good for the price. I liked being close to the center, with several places nearby for meals. The room was spacious, but I didn't like it much: it needed better air circulation and smelled off. For a short trip where you just need a cheap, nice place to sleep, it works.

The location is good, not too close to the Main Street, though it gets dark at night and can be hard for first timers to find. For the price, it's mostly what you'd expect, with some disappointments. A double room apparently only comes with a fan, so don't rely on Agoda's room description. Always check the room details and photos on another booking site too. There were stains on the sheets and towels, and don't expect daily housekeeping. Breakfast was okay, but only enough for a petite appetite. It was served outside the room, where there were mosquitoes and tiny flies. Nights can be hot, but opening the side window brings in mosquitoes. I'd pay more for a better place unless you're on a budget.
