Kekut and his family are lovely, and he was easy to reach whenever we needed anything. We could refill our bottles with drinking water. The house has a typical Balinese family style and is quiet and beautiful, with restaurants, scooter rentals, massage parlors and other needs a short walk away. Central Ubud is close too. It suits backpackers or anyone on a budget, as the room has just the basics for the price. Breakfast was okay, with toast, egg, fruit, coffee and tea. During our six days, the service was a bit slow, and we didn’t have the room cleaned, towels changed or bed made. I’d recommend it if you’re saving money for activities and don’t expect luxury.

The garden and temple on the grounds are wonderful, and breakfast was tasty, even if it wasn’t a big one. There’s no pool, which I realized would have been nice, but that was on me. The only negative was an older woman on the grounds trying to sell paintings to guests, and she was quite pushy.

We liked Sukma Guesthouse so much that we came back for a second stay. It’s right in the city center but still not too loud. I highly recommend it.

Really nice place with Balinese-style buildings and a friendly Balinese family. They changed the breakfast, and it was amazing!
