Rumah Ganesha

We spent a wonderful week at Rumah Ganesha Ubud. It’s tucked away from the main road, with plenty of trees and garden, plus a shaded pool, so it feels peaceful and relaxing. If you want to be a little away from the hustle and bustle, I highly recommend it. Three excellent restaurants are next door: 11:11, Bubu Warung and Prima Vegetarian. You can also walk up the back streets to Yellow Flower Cafe and other cafes and restaurants on the hill.

Rumah Ganesha isn’t fancy, and for the price I didn’t expect it to be. What I got was exactly what I needed: a clean, simple, comfortable place with a warm atmosphere that felt like home. The space is serene, and the staff are exceptional, especially Jiwa. His kindness and dedication made my stay unforgettable. When I ran into problems at another accommodation and couldn’t stand to stay there even one night because of its poor condition, Jiwa kindly came to pick me up. I came back to Rumah Ganesha and stayed several more days. I’m so grateful for this place and for Jiwa’s hospitality. Keep up the amazing work 🤍

It’s a very nice place, and I’d stay again. The setting is right at the edge of paths through the jungle, close to great yoga and wonderful food all around. One thing, it’s hard to reach them by phone, so they should post their what'sApp number.

Jiwa was the highlight of my stay. He was lovely and went out of his way to make me comfortable. The location is also great, with plenty of nearby restaurants and spas, and little lanes to explore. The rooms were clean and the gardens lovely. The pool was clean and pleasantly cold, too, though the pool area felt dull, with just two loungers that had seen better days. I wanted to love this hotel, but of the six places I stayed in Bali over three weeks, it was my least favorite. My first room was toward the back of the property near the pool, and smelled strongly of damp. I opened all the windows, and after many hours the smell had eased a bit. The room was okay, nothing special, which was fine for the price. But I was the only person in that section, with several buildings of four rooms each, two downstairs and two upstairs. Being alone at the back made me feel isolated and, honestly, a little scared. There’s no reception area, so I contacted the staff on Whatsapp. She offered a room in another part of the hotel, and I moved. That one was nearer the front, in good condition and without the bad smell. A couple were in the room below me, and more people checked in at 12 am, making a huge ruckus. Still, having people around made me feel much more comfortable. They all checked out the next day, though, so I was the only guest for two of my three days. I didn’t enjoy it. The whole place felt completely dead, and the lack of atmosphere eventually made me glad to leave. I can’t say whether it would be more enjoyable with more guests. I wouldn’t return.
