Shiva House Ubud

What stayed with me most was the family and staff. During a personal crisis on my holiday, they gave me so much care and were a grounding presence. I’m deeply grateful, and part of my heart is still at Shiva house. I spent a couple of weeks there, and as a woman traveling alone I felt safe. It’s a calm refuge in busy Ubud, with affordable, comfortable rooms, good air conditioning, and cozy beds. I also loved having tea on the little balcony and taking in the beautiful temple grounds each day. I’ll definitely return.

I paid AUD $20 a night for a room right in the town center. It was very basic, but exceptionally tidy and clean. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere relaxed. Each morning there was a thermos of hot water on the porch outside the room for tea or coffee. My room also had great air conditioning.

A comfortable bed and a clean, basic room, just what I expected for budget accommodation. They leave hot water, plus tea and coffee, outside the room. I liked the Balinese architecture, the staff were accommodating, and the location was very good.

We liked this traditional, distinctive house enough to extend our stay. The family running it made us feel welcome, and nothing seemed like too much trouble. The property and rooms were clean and well equipped. Breakfast was very good when we paid a little extra for it, and tea and coffee were supplied free each day. We also used the laundry service, which was good and reasonably priced. I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Ubud and would come back.
