Surya Kembar Villas

The Monday room at Surya Kembar Villas sits beside the river and looks out over the jungle, such a peaceful view. I had a great stay, with beautiful surroundings and welcoming staff. The in-room massage was wonderfully relaxing, and being able to enjoy it in the room was a real plus. Book it a day ahead to make sure there’s availability. Prices felt very reasonable for the service, and breakfast had lots of delicious choices, so I’d suggest including it with your stay.

The village rice field trek was a peaceful, authentic highlight. We also had a suite with a stunning river view, and breakfast was fresh and delicious. The staff were friendly and helpful, always checking that we had what we needed. Highly recommended!

We left at 10pm and didn’t stay the night. We’d come back from a relaxing sound healing session and dinner, dropped our bags off, and headed out, so we didn’t see the bedding until bedtime. When I pulled back the mosquito net and covers, there were dead bugs, blood stains, and mould. It was grim, and I couldn’t stay. I live in Bali and have never felt I had to leave a hotel before. My sister was visiting from the U.K., and we had plans the next day, so it was upsetting to go back to Sanur. I’d asked for a small jug of milk for one cup of tea because there was no teabag or milk provided. They charged 60k. I never used it because the fridge was filthy and the kettle was full of limescale. As we left at about 10.30pm in pouring rain, with the Gojek driver waiting, they still charged the 60k. There was no apology. I did get a refund, but being charged for unused milk after all that was the last straw. I have photos and will share them with Booking .com too, since that’s where I booked.

We loved our three-night stay in the two-bedroom villa. The staff were friendly, and the private pool was clean and well cared for. One thing to know: the two bedrooms and living room are separated and each has a different key. That could be tricky with a young child who sleeps alone in the kids’ room, since it may be hard to get to them at night. There also weren’t enough power outlets within easy reach, like beside the bed.
