The Bali Shanti

It’s an easy five-minute walk to central Ubud, and Hang Out Kitchen resto is right by the entrance. The setting is peaceful and beautiful, with every room looking out over the jungle and valley. There are only four rooms, all spacious and well equipped with a fridge and coffee and tea, plus each has its own private terrace. There’s plenty of car parking. Highly recommend it, and I’ll definitely return.

The prices were reasonable, and having many attractions nearby, along with a laundry shop, made this a decent-value stay in a convenient part of Ubud. The rooms could be improved, especially the towels, and breakfast choices are limited.

We really enjoyed having breakfast brought to our room. It was tasty, with pineapple pancakes, coffee, eggs, and freshly blended fruit juice, though I would have liked a more traditional Balinese option. The staff were extremely friendly, and the stay was very comfortable in this beautiful, welcoming place. The bathroom floor is a little rough, so I needed shower flip-flops. I didn’t see any roaches during my time in Bali, and there weren’t many bugs inside, but there are harmless ants along the outdoor floor. Wear bug spray when heading outside.

The setting is lovely, and the separate villa houses give the rooms good privacy. The location is good too. The shower was odd because water spread across the room, including the toilet area. There was a really bad smell in the bathroom from the humidity throughout the stay.
