Umah Anila

The owners were really nice and friendly, and the location is good. I was the only guest there, with all three floors empty, lol. But Umah Anila needs a proper renovation. Things were falling apart: broken drawers, no hangers, a restroom door that wouldn’t shut because the handle was broken, and the aircon leaked onto the bed, so I had to turn it off overnight. I raised these issues with the owners, who said they’d fix them the next day. Nothing was done except that I got hangers. I stayed four nights and wouldn’t come back.

Putu and her family went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and looked after, and the flowers in the rooms were a lovely detail. The location is central but peaceful. Rooms are a good size, very clean, and housekeeping came every day. Each morning we could choose what time breakfast was delivered to the terrace outside our room. The coffee was quality, and they kindly adapted the lovely breakfast to our dietary needs. They also have a shop for water, snacks, and other things, which was super convenient. Everything suited our stay perfectly. It was an absolute pleasure, and we hope to return. Highly recommend.

The people were really lovely. There isn't a kettle, but each morning they carried a flask of hot water, tea and coffee upstairs between 6 and 6:15. The room was clean, though the shower was draining poorly. For me, that kept it from being five-star.

From the upper-floor rooms, you get a stunning view toward mount agung, and the beds are super comfortable. I've stayed with Putu and her family at the Umah Anila Guesthouse several times in 2023 and 2024, and Putu and I really connected. It's a small, private, cozy place with everything I needed, and it was very clean with no mould. Just be aware there isn't a pool, though Folk Pool and Garden is nearby. The larger rooms have a small desk and chair, and around 6am they leave a free insulated 1L bottle of hot water on each balcony for tea or coffee. Breakfast is the usual Bali tourist-style choice of eggs, pancake or fruit. There's also a little market attached where you can buy snacks and water, and sometimes you can have a chat with someone in the family. If you're tired of staring at concrete walls, this was a great fit for me. See you soon Putu 🥰
