Villa Padma Ubud

Just a four-minute walk from the heart of central Ubud, this villa was peaceful and quiet. We never used the public pool since we had a lovely private one. The place had everything we needed, with some of the best service and such friendly staff. They cleaned our room daily, and even folded my clothes, which surprised me. Breakfast wasn't large, but it was delicious and well made.

The location was quiet and good, but I wouldn't recommend booking this place. The villa looked like the pictures, yet it was very dated and poorly maintained. The doors didn't close properly, so lizards, ants, and other insects could get into the room and our suitcases. The pool wasn't cleaned until 6 a.m. on our second day, and we didn't use it because it still looked far from clean. The sheets were stained and never changed. The bathroom was old, its door was coming apart and wouldn't shut properly, and there were dead cockroaches in the closet. We had to keep asking for things to be cleaned. We tried breakfast just once because it wasn't good.

Villa 3 at Villa Padma was clean, the air conditioning worked great, and breakfast was tasty. Yoga and his family were very friendly and helpful, and Yoga drove us from the airport and took us to our next stop when we left. It's a quiet place at night. Walking west down the road to the town center takes around 10-15 minutes, or a Grab ride gets you there in two. A few small bugs got into the room, but Bali has its imperfections, and you find that in plenty of places. We still felt comfortable and would highly recommend it.

The staff were friendly and helpful, with daily room cleaning, fresh towels, and breakfast delivered whenever we requested it after ordering a day ahead. That was great. Villa Padma is a peaceful spot a few hundred meters off the busy main road, and the center of Ubud is just a short walk away. We could hear birds and music from the supplied Bluetooth speaker. The bedroom was spacious and cooled well. The living room and kitchen are roofed but outdoors, a nice place to relax. The private pool was small and a bit cold, but still good to have. The bathroom is basic, with a shower, tub, and toilet. The hot water kept failing: it was either very hot or mostly very cold, with no comfortable in-between. We reported it to reception, but it still hadn't been fixed a day later. I'd have given the place five stars if the shower had worked properly.
