Kambaniru Beach Hotel & Resort

Breakfast was pleasant, and I really liked the peaceful location and the lovely staff. The reception is beautifully designed, too. The room itself felt practical rather than resort-like. There was no balcony or place to hang wet swimwear, and only two hangers for two people. Getting into and out of the pool is awkward: there’s no easy entrance, so you have to perch on the edge and jump in. It would be virtually inaccessible for anyone with mobility issues or less fitness. Food other than breakfast was disappointing, more like it came from a sachet than being freshly made for a resort. Those details kept my rating at 4/5.

The pool is lovely, and dinner was delicious when we stuck to the Indonesian dishes. The restaurant had everything we wanted, and the staff were great. Breakfast was fine, too. The beach is mostly mangroves, so it’s not really somewhere to lay out a towel. Inside the room, though, you can hear almost everything, and there was an odd smell in the bathroom. The water pressure is low, so wash long hair elsewhere. There are no reading lights by or above the bed, which means all the lights have to be on or off. The hotel looks amazing, but doesn’t deliver on every detail. For wheelchair access, you need a ground-floor room since there’s no elevator. The restaurant is upstairs on the first floor, but it does have a ramp.

The second floor has no lift, which could be inconvenient if you have heavy bags or mobility issues. Otherwise, the rooms are clean, cozy, and nicely designed, and the beachfront setting has lovely sunrise and sunset views. Kambaniru Beach Hotel & Resort felt relaxing, with beautiful scenery and warm hospitality. It seems suited to both leisure and business stays.

The beach is a fair distance from the hotel, so ask for a sea-view room if you want to see it from afar. Also bring your own toiletries, since the hotel only provides a toothbrush and toothpaste. The entrance made a grand, promising first impression, but the room was just so-so. Ours had no refrigerator, so we asked to switch; the refrigerator in the other room didn’t work. There’s still quite a bit that could be improved, though the stay was okay overall.
