Ewings Bar & Self-Catering Accommodation

The room was pretty standard once I got inside, but getting in took 20 knocks and several unanswered calls. The listing says parking is free, but there isn't free parking on site. It's only free after 5 o'clock in a public car park, like everywhere else, so be wary of that misleading claim.

I didn't stay overnight, but I had plenty of pints. The staff were lovely and really friendly, and there's a huge smoking area outside. It got a bit cold 🥶, but it's one of the better places.

The place is clean and lovely, and the staff are friendly and helpful. We arrived at noon even though check-in is at 4pm, and they helped us as much as they possibly could. But the hot, sunny weather made the rooms extremely uncomfortable for sleeping. Being right in the town center is handy for getting places, though our room was beside a pub and it was very loud. People stood at the window talking and arguing, and since the room was so hot the windows had to stay open. We got no sleep. Other guests also let the doors slam shut. We stayed Sunday and Monday, and I hate to imagine how awful a weekend would be. Disappointing, because it's otherwise lovely and clean, but I wouldn't stay again because of the noise.

I stayed for five nights and would love to come back. The pub staff were amazing, always helpful and polite. Rooms were clean and fresh each day, and the facilities were great, including a clean, well-stocked kitchen for cooking your own meals. I met the owner, who was very nice and a good laugh, apart from the Liverpool FC talk. Keep up the great work, Sarah Jordan and the rest of the gang.
