The host made us feel very welcome and made sure everything was just right. The location is fantastic, right in town.

The homestyle feel was just right for our trip and the small town, a nice change from the usual hotels I stay in for work. Breakfast was wonderful, and the host was happy to help with everything we needed. Our family of four shared a very clean bathroom. There were enough bathrooms that we didn’t run into anyone else, and the one we used was huge for a European bathroom. I’d stay here again if I’m in the area.

The front desk lady was always around with tips for town or just a chat, and breakfast was included with several choices and quick service. The staff were friendly and helpful. I was first shown to a room that felt too small, but when I asked, they moved me right away to a larger one at no extra cost. The rooms are cozy and have a double bed, wardrobe, desk, TV, heater, kettle, and sink. There’s a big shared bathroom with a huge shower that was always in great condition. Lovely service and a great location, literally seconds from the Monument. A lovely stay for a reasonable price.

Our hen party of ten had a miserable stay, even though the guest house knew we were a group. Five minutes after we got to our room, someone knocked to tell us to be quiet. It was only 6pm. The next morning, when some of us asked for soft or hard eggs, we were told, “the eggs come how they come.” At breakfast on day two, we were told we were taking up too many tables, even though there were ten of us and no empty seats at any table we used. The mattresses were rock hard, the decor very old, and there was a horrible musty smell through the whole building. It was freezing inside, and when we asked to have the heating turned on early, we were told no, it would come on in a couple of hours. On the morning we left, we asked for more towels. The black haired woman refused, saying her towels were “todays towels for todays guests.” The people running this place were ignorant and miserable. Avoid at all costs.
